I began this piece by cutting an old tablecloth to size and gluing it on the canvas. Then I used glue and molding paste to attach the utensils (which I flattened as much as possible with my mini table vice). When all was dry, I painted the whole thing white with a couple of coats of gesso, not at all knowing that I was going to be painting the utensils to look like themselves!!

That's what I love about abstract art - you never know what you're going to get!
